HIPOCRACY AND DOUBLE STANDARDS AS RSPCA ADMIT TO CRAMMING CATS INTO CONFINED CAGES, AND BREACHING LICENSING CONDITIONS, IF IT WERE ANYONE ELSE THEY WOULD PROSECUTE !Extract of article by TIM FLETCHERAN
The RSPCA's Burton animal home, in Hillfield Lane, Stretton, is struggling to cope after being inundated with the animals during the summer, according to branch and welfare secretary Margaret Jenkinson.
She said: "It's always pretty bad during the summer due to the kitten season but this year we've had a lot of adult cats as well - many of which have been pregnant."The cats come to us as strays but they are all friendly and handleable, so they must belong to someone."We are licensed to hold 30 cats but at times we've had up to 65 - we've had to put them in cages, in the shower room and every possible place we can think of, but it gets to a point where you run out of options."It's been very worrying for us because we have exhausted every angle of housing these cats.
